Capturing Spring with Macro Photography

We are on our fourth rainy day here in the Lansing, Michigan area. Instead of sitting inside again, I decided to take my macro lenses out and see if all this rain is doing what it's supposed to do. First I used my .42x macro lens attached to my 50mm. I wasn't entirely happy with the results, although there were a couple of good ones.

I then decided to use my telephoto 55mm-250mm and try some of the same shots that I got with the 50mm with the macro attachment. Mostly I was trying to have some fun on a rainy day.

I loved how the rain created this woodsy, soft green look to all the photos. It's finally nice to look outside and see some colors out there. Soon we will have everything in bloom and it will never cross our mind that it's been so cold, snowy, or rainy most of the winter and spring.

On my journey today I was able to get a bumble bee to pose for me. I also saw a humming bird as he flitted at the tree next to me. I missed him, but I will definitely keep my camera ready. My most annoyance came not from the rain, but from our family cat Cricket who decided he needed to bump my arm every time I squatted to take a photo. With all the other cats staying out of the rain, I suppose he was just excited someone else was out walking around.

I hope you enjoy watching spring come to life in your surroundings. I know I do and I have the wet shoes and socks to prove it.
